Geranium Uses and Benefits

One day I used Geranium after I prepared sample vials to send to friends. As I was preparing the samples, I pushed TOO hard and it broke right there in front of me. oiler fail. *sad face*

I immediately open my reference book to see how to minimize bleeding and Geranium was listed. I am hovered over the sink and let one small drop fall onto my bleeding gash. What do ya know! It stopped. I cleaned it up and then sprayed some owie blend and let it dry. I then bandaged myself up! So yes, this is my testimonial to minimize bleeding for a small cut or gash.

Obviously do not pour the oil endlessly onto your wound and make sure you do not need stitches. If you have a small cut or scrape that is bleeding, this is perfect. If you have a gash that is too much to handle... see your local hospital or urgency care.

Some of the ways you can use Geranium:
· Apply a few drops to your shampoo or conditioner bottle, or make your own deep hair        conditioner
·  Diffuse aromatically to help relieve occasional stress and tension
·  Add a drop to your moisturizer to help balance oil production
·  Dilute with FCO to minimize skin sensitivity
·  Use as a calming agent if applied topically or used aromatically

Laundry Detergent

I did it! No more laundry detergent on my shopping lists. This is very easy to make and you are not having to use chemical-filled soaps to get the job done. I challenge you to make your own and start making those changes you wanted to make on January 1st.

What you need:
This makes 3.5 cups of detergent.

+ Borax (1 cup)
+ Washing Soda (1 cup)
+ Kirk's Castile Soap (1 Bar) Kirk's Castile: Coco Castile Bar Soap, Fragrance Free 4 oz (5 pack) + Favorite essential oil (5 drops)

Use a cheese grater to get the bar of soap down to shavings. Then you mix in the washing soda and borax. Use a fork to make sure there are no lumps. This is when you can add your essential oil to the recipe! I chose two; Wild Orange and Citrus Bliss essential oils. I separated the mixture into 2.

Now I have 1.5 cups of Wild Orange and 1.5 cups of Citrus Bliss laundry detergents. It takes some trial and error to discover what scents you will like the best. This is why I split it up.

Store in an air tight container (I chose glass just to be safe.)

I recommend using 2 - 4 tablespoons per load. This laundry detergent can give us 24 loads at least!

Remember to always use your best judgement in making homemade products. Find something that works for you and stick with it! You can easily save money on your home cleaning products by doing some research.

Fibromyalgia

My battle with fibromyalgia is a roller coaster. I can have all of the oils in the world, all of the medicines & alternative therapies, but it feels like it is never ending. If you are new to your diagnosis, please do your research about the illness. Don't believe just anybody claiming there is a cure. I was diagnosed back in 2006 and I am still skeptic about doctors claiming they have a cure. Maybe it's just me. This post is obviously my opinion and I have no scientific data to back it up. Reading and watching youtube videos throughout the years have only made me more skeptic.

I can tell you from my point of view only. I try to watch what I eat because too much dairy and gluten make my symptoms worse. Sometimes I do not have an appetite. I am researching my way to a more organic and natural lifestyle to help my quality of life. I am writing this post as nauseous as I am, and it's days like this that I hate dealing with it. I can hear every sound as if it was being exaggerated. I can see every light as if it was bright as the sun. My mom is making chicken soup and I can hear every cut and chop, every shuffle of her shoes on the floor. To hear every sound magnified is one of the worst things. There are no words to describe it, even though I tried my hardest above.

I took two peppermint beads earlier for nausea hoping it would settle down. Now plan B is to eat soup. I am tired of medicines and doctors telling me what I SHOULD be taking to help my fibro. I am tired of acting like a guinea pig and being prescribed medicine after medicine. I want to empower myself.

My first advice to anyone dealing with a chronic illness is to accept it as it is in the beginning. Knowing that doctors actually are just PRACTICING medicine. Sometimes people who know we are sick will forget we are sick. We will have good days and bad days. There will be inner dialogue you will engage in; a battle within. "I am okay, I can work." then before you know it you don't feel so good one day and you have a bad flare for a few weeks.

I know it's hard, trust me. You are preaching to the choir. As one with chronic illness, you need to focus on the positives. If you think there are no positives because you hurt daily, can't think and want to sleep all of the time... there are positives. All you have to do is look at the sky. There is a positive, you just have to open your eyes and step to a different tune.

You will have to take a holistic approach to your illness. This is where I am today. Please feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to. Look me up on facebook or instagram. I didn't start this blog for myself but for you too. Please share my blog with your friends who suffer from chronic illness; fibro, CFS, and other chronic illnesses.

My Diffuser Blends

There is not a top ten or top 20 diffuser blends, it's all in your preference and why you are diffusing! I love diffusing essential oils for a couple of reasons. If members of the household are not feeling well, I have a blend. If I want to wake up and start my day feeling alert and focused, I have a blend. If I want to relax and promote sleep, I have a blend! The list goes on.
You just have to experiment and go from there. Everyone reacts differently to essential oils. Do your own thing!

Diffusing essential oils is an additional method to receiving the benefits of the essential oils you diffuse. As you may know, essential oils are released through into the air through the vapor. The vapors can influence mood, emotions, relaxation, etc...I use the Spa Vapor the most. The Spa Vapor 2.0 is recently new, check it out here!

Need a pick me up? Frankincense, Wild orange & Peppermint.
This blend makes me feel more focused and alert. Yes, I still drink some coffee but diffusing these oils helps me focus and put my thoughts in some kind of order. I also use the focus blend on my feet. I use frankincense and wild orange because they are great for promoting overall health and smell great!

Are you not feeling well? Melaleuca, Protective Blend and Wild orange.
Melaleuca essential oil is great for an environment with ongoing threats to our bodies. I use it because one of its properties is anti-bacterial ad it promotes cleansing and purity. I use the protective blend to protect my body from environmental threats. Wild orange because it smells great!

Put moods in check: Grounding Blend, Calming Blend and Frankincense.
Grounding blend is so awesome at making me chill out. If the moods in the house are everywhere, this is what I turn too. The calming blend and the grounding blend are great for anxious minds too. Frankincense is a great calming essential oil too!

Need a good night’s rest? Vetiver and Lavender
Vetiver is super relaxing and calming. I sometimes rotate essential oils in my blends for diffusers and roller bottles. For instance, I will use Lavender and calming blend, Lavender and grounding blend. Some people find Bergamot or R. Chamomile promote a good nights rest.

At the end of the day, you may have read several opinions on diffuser blends but it's mostly preference and what your body reacts to the most.
Here's a tip: If you are diffusing essential oils, you can also apply them topically on your feet, wrists, behind the ears or back of the neck. Please make sure you test for sensitivity.
